video: painting my living room pink

I’m super excited today to share this little before-and-after video showing the process of painting my living room pink! I teamed up with some friends at the indie paint company Yolo Colorhouse, which is a super cool company dedicated to making paint that is produced in an environmentally conscious way, and which contains no harmful chemicals. When you start leaning about all the gnarly chemicals in normal paint it’s pretty alarming, so I love that Yolo has created a product that’s a healthier choice for our homes.

Big thanks to Natalie, Caitlin, Lauren, and videoman extraordinaire Zach for all their help with this project. And very special thanks to Miss Fifi for making a guest appearance during our taping, and for tracking hot pink kitty tracks all around the apartment.

Great job Brett – it looks amazingly pink! and gorgeous. It really suits the fabric frame/painting, the grey sofa (not to mention Miss grey Fifi).
Well done!

Warm regards,
Gabi

LOVE IT!!! And Miss Fifi, too. You picked the pink purely to make her look fabulous, right? ;)

It’s not Barbie Pink –it’s Jem and the Holograms Pink. Straight Up Rad!
And I greatly appreciate anyone who considers their couch AND kitty when choosing a paint color. It’s so critical.

For us more traditional (wallpaper and drabber Martha Stuart colors) guys – the pink knocked me back a bit -but when the red hit later – I was sitting on the floor. I must admit you are fearless – but then life teaches us – i you do such things- and find it isn’t what you thought – you can always try other colors. One thing us traditionalsts seem to drift to is neutral or pastels. Yet inside – I long for that kick in the pants color that causes double takes when i walk in. I would tremble at the thought of letting you loose in one of my houses. But I do know from watching you in your many talent pursuits – that in the end – it always seems to look fabulous (as billy crystal might say). Some day before i die – I am either going to con you into doing one of my rooms or i will just watch you and do something like what you do. What a wonderful young lady with the “Balls” to just let it go and do what she likes. Thanks for brighening up this sometimes dull world for us baby boomers LOL. Xo
