I always loved the East Village (The pierogies at Veselka .. OMG!) Couldnt afford t, so I lived in Brooklyn. Amazing building from the 1930's with all the glorious details of the era. I think the ony "update" was the elevator that they put in. But it was one of the old fashioned "turn the knob and open the heavy door" type elevator. The apartment itself was all curves and try ceilings. There was even bookself built into the wall that had ornate doors on it. How I loved that place! I loved that the woman I sublet from let me paint as I wanted to. My bedroom looked like Medieval castle walls. I even painted a small mural in the hallway. It's been 3 years now and I still miss it. Even if we moved back though, our now "Brady Bunch" family wouldn't fit in it. But I enjoy the memories of it :)

Keep your fond memories close to your heart, but dont let them keep you from enjoying your new place :)

Thanks for sharing! I live in Tokyo in a 29 sq meter (312 sq ft) apartment with my husband, and your photos gave me some ideas for how I might utilize space a bit better. Also, I feel I need to tell you that I'm not usually a cat person, but yours is pretty spectacular. Thanks again!

Thanks for the house tour…lovely…, reminds me when I was a student in Munich and lived in the middle of Schwabing in a tiny 5th floor apartment of about 29.5qm. Regardless of size, it still holds tons of memories…. Good luck in your new place. I’m sure you will make great memories in your new place over time, just as you did in your Manhattan studio.

I LOVE your blog. I am artsy but when it comes to decorating my head starts SPINNING out of control!

That vintage horse paint by number gave me deja vu!! I remember seeing one just like it years ago...and no one knew who made it. Everyone assumed me (I'm 40) but I think it is much older. Do you know how old your painting is?

Thanks Brett, loved seeing the entire apartment, it is amazing. I will never complain about my studio again, it's almost as big as your whole apt. Loved the pictures of kitty, it is amazing the spots we find them in. There are times in this big old house that I can't find mine, he has secret spots momma doesn't know of. OK, ready for pictures of the new place, congrats on the move!
